Here I want to write a few words about me.
Started as a hobby, leatherworking has turned into a side-business for me.
But let´s start from the beginning.
I had come to this kind of recreational activity due to my interest for the middle ages.
After some time, when I started to go to medieval markets, I wanted to have my own medieval garment. And to this garment some medieval turn-shoes are a must have.
I ordered some leather, made some (not so pretty ) shoes, and the rest of the leather went to the attic.
In the year 2006 after a long period, I started playing pool billiard again. Short time later my 16 year old artificial leather cue case needed his retirement.
Commercially produced leather cue cases are quiet expensive and the designs weren´t my cup of tea anyway.
I remembered the leather hide from the shoemaking and designed my first cue case ever, at that time still without special leather working tools.
From this time on I was in. After completing the case I wanted to do more stuff like that.
So I ordered a lot of tools (this can be a real addiction *g), mostly in the USA, because this kind of tools, are not really available here in Germany, and when, they are quiet expensive.
With the first tools my case #001 was made.
This was a short escape about the origin of adamant-leather.
If you are interested about, how it goes on with my project, please be invited to follow it on my website.
Cheers,
Marcel Merkwitz
